Our trusty bus for the next two weeks. Photo: Adrienne C. Wilson
The road to Debre Markos is paved and relatively good for travel, but the ride was much longer than any of us had expected. With a few bathroom stops, break for lunch and a quick detour to check out the church at Debre Libanos all tossed in our road trip turned into an all day affair. There isn’t much to say about road trips really. If the window is open you’ve got the wind in your hair and thoughts flying free. Depending on the time of day you might have the sun in your eyes and if you fall asleep someone will probably take a picture of you drooling. Most of my time was spent reflecting. When I climbed out of myself and back into the present I couldn’t keep my eyes off the lush green landscape. With each turn down the long road I became more amazed at how diverse Ethiopia is not only in people, but in terrain as well.
Enjoy the ride.
