12 Miles at Golds

Since the weather in Omaha took a turn for the ugly in time came for my long run I decided to fork up my dough and head into the nearby Gold’s Gym. I had 12 miles to do and there was no way I was going to run in on and off drizzle and the under the most depressing gray clouds. Sorry. I haven’t been into a gym since the earlier days of my training and it actually worked out well. I took advantage of Gold’s Women’s Only Room since there was a TV playing music vids right above one of the treadmills.

I started off almost a little too comfortably by running 10 minutes and 31 second miles, but started to vary from there to 9 minutes and 22 second miles – which was a killer for me. I’d run about four minutes at the fastest pace and many more at the slower pace. It is too late in my training to try to switch up certain things, but I wanted to push myself some as I was seriously cruising at the 10 min 31 sec. My finishing time was at 2 hrs and 11 minutes, which wasn’t exactly great, but I’ve had much worse running days.

More than anything I was happy this was my last run (period) in Omaha. Can’t wait for my coach to get back to hit the road again!
